A wider leadership shake-up at Hyundai’s electric air taxi startup Supernal is underway just a few weeks after it paused work on its vehicle program and its CEO and CTO left.
It’s a major change that paves the way for electric air taxi startups to perform more robust demonstrations of their technology before they begin any commercial flights.
The move comes just one month after Uber partner Joby acquired Blade’s passenger business.
The shakeup comes as the startup was still struggling to get its test vehicle off the ground — literally. The first flight was only in March.
The new partnership comes as hybrid solutions gain momentum in the advanced air mobility (AAM) space, a catch-all term to describe the next generation of aviation concepts like eVTOL, hydrogen, and so on.
