After days of upheaval at Automattic, following a failed attempt to remove CEO Matt Mullenweg, the company has a new board.
CFO Mark Davies and legal chief Andy Missan signed each other’s severance agreements while Matt Mullenweg was on leave, providing a year of salary and additional equity vesting if their departures qualify for the benefits.
Automattic says Mullenweg is back as “chairman and CEO of Automattic, with full support of the board.”
In a Slack message seen by TechCrunch, Matt Mullenweg told Automattic employees he’s back in control of the company, days after its board put him on leave. Automattic has not yet confirmed the apparent reversal.
WP Engine claims Automattic was going to target more hosting companies with royalty fees.
